GWiB provides resources for women and allies at McCombs to enhance their professional skills, explore career opportunities, build more meaningful mentorship connections, and engage in conversations about supporting women advancement in the workplace.

Speakers and Events

GWiB hosts a wide variety of professional development events, including:

Women in Business Leadership Symposium: An annual conference through which members hear from female senior-level executives. The conversations offer a unique opportunity to gain insights and advice on navigating common challenges and issues facing women in business today.

Company / Industry Panels: Events include "Women in Male-Dominated Industries and Occupations" and “MBA Internship Experience Panel”.

Small Group Workshops: Work with accomplished women leaders in the Austin and McCombs network on a variety of topics, including hard conversations in the workplace, goal-setting, negotiation tactics, and helpful tools that can be used to overcome difficulties in leadership roles.

Mentorship

Being the Mentee: GWiB offers an annual mentorship program for first and second year MBA student members to receive mentorship from our amazing group of industry women leaders. The 2021 program will have over 45 volunteer mentors who represent a variety of industries and functions.

Being the Mentor: GWiB second year MBA students and recent alumni members can serve as mentors to first year MBA students who are seeking guidance as they navigate the internship and job search process. This rewarding experience fosters more inspiration, leadership and connections amongst our growing community of bright businesswomen.

In addition to programmed speakers, events and mentorship, GWiB compiled a list of recommended resources for professional development .

The list includes tools such as books, newsletters, podcasts, and websites. While most resources benefit businesswomen pursuing any career, some are catered for specific industries or functions.
